What is the Acid Mantle?

What is the Acid Mantle?

Published by Equibal Labs on Dec 4th 2018

Hello Everyone!

It's officially the holiday season and I am loving the festive vibes, I hope you are too! Today, I would like to broach a highly specific topic that means so much to the foundation of skincare. To begin, we must understand and internalize that the skin is an ORGAN, the largest of them all, and it serves as both a layer of protection and elimination. Moreover, since the skin is a protective layer with layers within itself, there is a foundation, a "blanket" of sorts: the acid mantle; it is an extremely thin, slightly acidic film on the surface of skin. It protects us from harmful bacteria, viruses and other contaminants and it consists of sebum mixed with sweat. Healthy skin has a pH between 5-5.6, not quite neutral, somewhat acidic. What does this mean for our skincare routine? It means that it is probably a good idea to keep our acid mantle nice and balanced, we achieve this with the use of toners. The Blemfree Toner and Balancer is a great way for us to accomplish that. It's a wonderful product and gives the user a luxurious experience. I love to conserve product, so instead of dabbing the liquid onto a cotton ball, I prefer to pour a small amount of toner into my hands and carefully splash it onto my face and gently pat it on my skin. I feel like so much more product is saved that way. I highly recommend you take a look in the mirror from day to day and observe the appearance of your skin and try to estimate the condition of it through the scientific perspective. I bet through a careful observation, conducting a study of your skin will go a long way in having a more mindful and loving approach to your routine. Until next time :)

Blemfreely Yours,

Sabine
